Krementz was founded in Newark, NJ in 1866 by George Krementz and his cousin Julius Lebcheucher. In 1884, they patented their technique for manufacturing men's collar buttons and by 1900, they produced most of the collar buttons used worldwide. They soon added women's jewelry that was inspired by the Art Nouveau designs they'd seen in Europe. Throughout the 20th century, Krementz was well known for its gold and gemstone jewelry.
